Care Business Advisors was founded by Nicholas Lee, whose background spans finance, business operations, and care sector leadership.
Nicholas began his career as a chartered accountant, working closely with business owners and developing a deep understanding of how businesses operate behind the numbers. When he moved into business himself, he failed early and learned quickly, experiencing first-hand the pressure, responsibility, and uncertainty that owners carry day to day.
That experience led to working with hundreds of businesses across different industries, helping them grow, scale, and build better systems. Along the way, there were successes and recognition, but also imposter syndrome, reinforcing the difference between understanding theory and carrying real operational responsibility.
Over time, it became clear that care businesses are fundamentally different. Recruitment pressure, regulation, emotional
responsibility, and tight margins create a level of complexity that generic business advice simply doesn’t address.
That understanding deepened when Nicholas acquired his first care business and stepped fully into the operational reality of care. At the time of acquisition, the business had only months left to survive. Through restructuring systems, improving recruitment processes, and bringing financial clarity, the business was stabilised, returned to profitability, and grew significantly.
Just as importantly, burnout was removed from the owner, and systems were built that allowed the directors to run the business from anywhere in the world.
This experience now shapes everything Care Business Advisors does.
Care Business Advisors was created in response to demand from other care business owners asking for practical, industry-specific support.
Having worked across multiple sectors, it became clear that care businesses require a different approach, one grounded in real operations, realistic systems, and an understanding of the pressures owners face.
